Bringing over 27 years of investment industry experience and expertise in a range of medtech industries, Tom is responsible for business development, capital raising and investor relationship management at Miraki Innovation. Working with the general partner, venture directors and portfolio company teams, Tom supports the product development process from initial assessment of IP, technology concepts, regulatory pathway, market opportunities and exit planning including advising on the potential buyer universe. In addition, Tom manages and mentors Miraki’s analysts and support staff. His guidance helps them optimize portfolio company results and shareholder returns.
Tom began his career at Bear Stearns in 1991. Throughout his 16 years at the firm, he gained experience in equity and fixed income trading, investment banking, hedging and restricted stock services, asset allocation, wealth management and estate planning. His clients included corporations, institutions, family offices and high-net-worth investors throughout the world.
In 2007, Tom joined MedCap Advisors to work side-by-side with Chris. Serving as managing director of Investment Banking, he oversaw business development, strategic consulting, capital raising and provided exit planning and M&A services for clients in the medtech industry. Tom advised and represented more than 100 private equity funds, venture firms, and medical device companies in a variety of business transactions including licensing agreements, joint venture partnerships, M&A and exit strategies. Tom’s medtech background includes experience in a broad range of areas such as orthopedics, vascular closure, robotic surgery, imaging, diagnostics, therapeutics and next generation biomaterials.
Tom graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
